Jeff Mizzi Elected as next Life Member
Jeff joined the Penrith Referees Association at the beginning of 2008, giving him a total of 18 years’ distinguished service.
During that period, Jeff has been an absolute stalwart of the Association, spending countless hours officiating games and mentoring young officials across both Saturday and Sunday football.
Over the course of his on-field career, Jeff has been in the middle for a total of 11 Saturday Grand Finals and 2 Sunday Grand Finals, the highest being an Under 19 Division 3 in the 2018 Season. He also refereed 4 women’s grand finals, the highest being the Open Women’s Division 2 in 2024. In addition, Jeff has touch judged a further 9 Sunday Grand Finals, including the A Grade Division 2 in 2011, A Grade Division 1 Tier B in 2012, and A Grade Division 3 in 2019. He was also a touch judge for the Open Women’s Division 1 in 2024.
Jeff has been a regular member of the Advisory Panel, holding the role of Referee Development Officer across a total of 8 seasons (2012-13, 16-19, 22, 25). He has also previously been credited as assisting with the completion of the appointments for junior football on a Saturday when needed.
Records indicate Jeff has attended 65.8% of Association meetings held from 2008 until 2025 (note that no meeting records are held for the 2010 season).
Jeff’s service to the Association is highlighted by the fact he has been awarded one of its most prestigious awards on two different occasions, having won the Jack Harris Senior Merit Award in both 2016 and 2020. He is one of only a handful of members to receive this award more than once.
On behalf of the Life Membership Committee, I am pleased to recommend Jeff Mizzi for Life Membership in the 2026 season.
